Gloria was a third year university project that I worked on with three of my coursemates, a vfx artist, and two musicians. The idea for the game developed from my initial research theme of loneliness. Through linking the need for understanding and effective communication to our theme, we aimed to centre our game around a universal language. And so Gloria became a game about bringing people together through music.
I was responsible for the art direction in this project as well as all the initial research. I designed the characters, and worked alongside our lead 3D-artist George Rickard to design the environments and develop the underlying narrative that exists within the game. I also created some in-game assets that were used in the making of the particle effects.
Check out my blog if you’d like to read more about the game development in depth, and for more information about the project as well as the rest of the team involved, see playgloria.com.
